Education for Autism Initiative (EAI), a nongovernmental organization dedicated to improving educational experiences for autistic children in Nigeria, has appointed Mrs. Oyeyemi Adako as its new Executive Director.
Emeritus Professor Sola Owonibi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, highlights Mrs. Adako's extensive expertise, experience, and dedication to advocacy as key to advancing the organization's mission of inclusive education for autistic children.
Mrs. Adako brings over a decade of teaching experience in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. She holds a Master of Arts in Education, a Bachelor of Arts in French Language, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Her research on using artificial intelligence to enhance the education of autistic children has yielded three peer-reviewed journal articles.
Professor Owonibi, an Emeritus Professor of Literature and Medicine, describes Mrs. Adako as the most suitable candidate for the position, "she possesses broad educational, research, and practical experiences coupled with her passion to advocate for the less privileged which aligns perfectly with EAI's vision."
EAI aims to advocate for the inclusion of autistic children in the educational system, promote autism-related research, leverage technology for learning, and provide training for educators and caregivers.
